KULIN'S CARS

Listed below are the cars we have had over the years, current ones are marked with an *. Where the cars were really bad I have stated, where really good I have stated. Under each, I have tried to list some comments where applicable and rated the Cars 0 to 10 for overall enjoyment as well as the dealers 0 to 10 for service (10 being the best).

I have not duplicated the models when we have had more than one type. What can be said in common to all cars is that you always loose money….the only winners are the dealers, and they don't always get it right. At the end of the page I have tried to list my thoughts in a PDF document on how to buy a car and how to sell one…its from someone with experience, believe me!

Porsche GT3 RS Gen 2 version, so so special, built to race but capable of being used everyday, unlike the Ferrari, service every 2 years or 20,000 miles, a true super car, Only 100 RHD versions will be made and that makes this car very rare, it costs as much as the Ferrari 430, I have stated that this will be my last Supercar.......I hope so as this car can only appreciate in value after the initial first few years of ownership. Sounds amazing, goes like a bat out of hell, certainly faster than the Ferrari, one to keep, me done! So far 10 for build quality, 10 for enjoyment, hope it wont be anything other than 10 for service, certainly cant eb as expensive as Ferrari for service.
My Porsche Turbo Tip, yes sadly the Ferrari Sold, did love it, but just not the most reliable car in the world and I wanted a real world everyday Super car, so along comes the 911 Turbo, Now this is the fastest car I have ever owned, just so fast it frightens you. So what do you buy now after owning two of the best cars in the world....both, thats what I will aim for next another Ferrari and a Porsche Turbo . Sold in 2010 just wanted something more passionate! See above! This is my current everyday car an Audi A6 3.0 TDI Quattor, the very bestsaloon car I ahve ever owned, better than any Mercedes or BMW I have owned and with performace of 0-60 in under 6 seconds, top sepeed of 155 and nearly 50 miles to the gallon, just why would you buy anything else.

My late 2008 & early 2009 car Volvo V70 D5, (no joke) it's the safest & most comfortable car I have ever owned, every gadget there is, even cooling seats, maybe I am getting old, but now as the main driver of the kids I need "safe". Great car, service not great though, expect better. (7 for enjoyment & 6 for Service, local dealer polite but too expensive and charges to loan a car, and dont cover all costs in warranty)

Nikki's New ford Galaxy, she missed her 7 seater, great car, every extra possible, lovely panoramic glass roof. Ride a bit hard, best looking MPV on the current market, great MPG of 35ish round town and over 40 on a run with 6 on board. She loves the heated front screen, (7 for enjoyment & 9 for Service, local ford dealer excellent) .

Audi Q7, the best looking 4 X 4 on the road, my every day car of 2007, loved it, but just far too big for the UK, had to go at 22mpg at best, £400 road tax and new tyres every 7,000 miles. Would have kept it, but running costs very poor. (8 for enjoyment & 7 for Service)

My X current every day car of 2008 Audi A3 TDI 170BHP (S-line), goes like stink, 45mpg, 0-60 in 7ish sec and 145 MPH, love it. not as well made as some Audi's though. Suspension like a rock and to be honest it was too small. (8 for enjoyment & 7 for Service) started to rattle after 10k miles, sadly.

My celebration of life car The Ferrari 430, wow I did adore it, by far the one of teh most beautiful cars I have ever owned (up to the 2010 car a GT3 RS), 4 year warranty, sex on wheels! How can you better this I ask? Well own one and see what its costs, Current in 2009 (8 for enjoyment (9 for comfort) & 7 for Service) , sadly reliability lets the car down and build quality is about as good as a 1980's Skoda we once had! So sad as there is no excuse for the problems and had it been made better i would no doubt still of owned it.

Nikki's current car of 2007-2008, a lovely car, not too big and good on fuel, maybe our last 4X4 thanks to Gordon Brown! Great car, very comfortable, but sold in Feb 2009, wont buy another, just too small inside. Much better looking than the porsche 4 X 4. (7 for enjoyment & 7 for Service)

TVR Chimaera 4.0 Just got it Sept 2006, I know mad fool, but should be some fun once sorted, and if I don't like it I can sell it in the Spring 2007, The sound is just to die for! Having just had a bill for £1700 I think its ok now, Phew, It certainly makes you feel younger, even if its nor true! (10 for enjoyment & 9 for Service, TVR specialist).Sold in April 2006 for a small profit. Dont ever say they are unreliable, I enjoyed every day I owned it, and it never let me down.
Mercedes E320 24V had 3 of these built to last forever (7 for enjoyment & 7 for Service)

Astra Elite, such a good little car, really this is all we need, BUT .....! You know!* (5 for enjoyment & 4 for Service) current car 2006

Mercedes E320 (straight 6 version) good car no spark, rubbish Merc Service (7 for enjoyment & 3 for Service)
Mercedes S320 CDI 2002 Great car let, down again by rubbish Mercedes service, never again another Merc (7 for enjoyment & 1 for Service), car broke down so often you may as well used a train, last straw was when they picked up the car but left the family at the side of the road. (When I complained to the Merc MD he said nothing, just hoped the car was ok now) This was our last Merc and I am sure for many others, the last tiem I spoke to merc dealer they said we are now a mass producer, what a pity)

Mercedes ML320 Rattle and Rattle until I could take no more. (6 for enjoyment & 3 for Service)
BMW 520i 1993 my first nice car (before this I had an Allegro, so you can see how special this was) (8 for enjoyment & 8 for Service)

BMW 530i 1992 (7 for enjoyment & 8 for Service)
VW Golf GTI MK4 Crap gearbox (5 for enjoyment & 4 for Service) Only did 750 miles and sold it (1998)

VW Golf CT TDI Brilliant fuel economy Gearbox crap (6 for enjoyment & 4 for Service) (what a pity VW took 2 years to sort the box out) (1998) Vauxhall corsa, great car, cost me nothing to run in 18 months (6 for enjoyment & 5 for Service)

Mercedes V220CDI, ugly but great pity the dealers were rubbish again (6 for enjoyment & 3 for Service) XK8 1999 (not very fast but for looks at the time it was a 9, everyone stared at it.( 8 for enjoyment & 8 for Service), we must save our Jaguar

Volvo XC90, Wife's car, she loves it, here all time favorite, so well made, safe and reliable, not cheap to service, dealer rubbish, (Her score 10 for enjoyment & 5 for Service).

Renault grand Espace, truly the worst car we ever owned, 11 weeks in the garage, renault were the worst service you could ever imagine, the car was dangerous, the garage said so yet Renault UK refused, sold it at a £10k loss after 10 months....never ever again will a Renault be in my household. (1 for enjoyment, but practical& 0 for Service, they never provided any thing you could call service) We loved this little Corsa so useful, but we did not really need it, just a spare car, 7 for enjoyment and 6 for service
